Pana Sankranti Reason-
Maha bisuba Sankranti is also known as pana Sankranti. This year It is celebrated on 14th April 2022. India is a wonderful country that is Full of gods and goddess. In Odisha, within 12 months 13 festivals are celebrated. From this day years are started. It is the traditional New year’s day in Odisha. As per the odia tradition, it is also the birthday of Hanuman.
The festival is celebrated by Hindus and Buddhists both in the states. The odia people visit today’s temples especially the hanuman temple Because it is the birthday of Hanuman. This day is also known as Mesha Sankranti due to the Mesha month of the Odia calendar.
On this day the sun changes its planetary position and enters into libra’s house, also known as a mesa. After this day people start agricultural activities across India. on maha bisuba, Sankranti Indian people prepared a sweet dish called pana. The name pana Sankranti comes from the pana.
It is made by mixing different fruits, milk, water, curd, Bela, and sugar pulp and distributing it to everyone. A small earthen pot filled with this pana is Hung on the Tulasi plant as per tradition. A hole is made at the bottom of the pot from which water drips.
This dropping of water signifies rains. Another tradition is to eat a mixture of chatua, curd, and banana. These are first offered to the tulsi plant. Maha bisuba Sankranti is celebrated on the 24 days of the Chaitra as per the Indian calendar.
Across Odisha, this festival is celebrated with a lot of reverence and enthusiasm. Many places are fairs or mela people are going to enjoy with her families see dance and singing performance. These fairs have stalls of foods and traditional crafts and other products.
This festival is celebrated to bring an end to an old year to start afresh with the beginning of the new year. As the New year brings in hopes and aspirations for a promising future people pray for health and wealth. At the same time, farmers pray for a good harvest and bountiful rains. The festival date is set according to the first day of the traditional solar calendar.
